Why is having an LLC important business owners?

This is not legal advice, just our own opinion: For liability protection, having an LLC for your business can keep it safer than if anything were in your own name.

How many LLCs should I have?

We are not attorneys and therefore can not give legal advice, but for the best asset protection we recommend a particular structure.

Holding Company in WY as a closed LLC so that your personal details are not shared with the secretary of state.

Operating Company in WY, that is owned by your holding company. This company is the one that you conduct your business with.

Then, each brand having its own LLC in the state that you physically run your business out of.

For instance, if you own 4 brands and live Ohio you would have:

  • 1 Holding Company LLC in WY
  • 1 Operating Company LLC in WY
  • 4 Brand LLCs in Ohio

That would be a total of 6 LLCs.

It is not required to structure your business like this. But with this structure, it provides the most asset protection.
